Christmas card "5:30 am"
Introducing this year's brand new Christmas card, printed with my original painting "5:30 am"
This card is not 'Christmassy' in the traditional way that we're used to, but I always like to push the boundries and come up with something a little bit different that will stand apart from the rest... and this is it.
For me, it captures that warm, cozy glow of a house lit for Christmas, a single candle shining in the dark. Christmas can often bring back memories and feelings of nostalgia of years past, and I often find myself reflecting back on my life. This painting takes me to that place of reflection and makes me feel peaceful. It is from the stance of looking out of the window at an early hour in the morning, which some people do to pray, or to find clarity of mind when the world is silent. Somehow looking out at the stars and the moon - the first twinkly lights to shine down on Christmas day, I get a sense of awe and excitement for what's to come.
After what has been a very difficult and unusual year, for some, the sight of snowmen, presents and over-the-top festive scenes may be too much. This card is a gentle way to celebrate the true light in the darkness, and the hope that it brings.
