"Spectrum" Story behind the artwork

Spectrum definition: a band of colours, as seen in a rainbow, produced by separation of the components of light by their different degrees of refraction according to wavelength.

"Spectrum" is a medium sized, landscape painting inspired by the countryside but painted purely from my imagination, with no reference photos or guides. It has been one of my favourites right from the moment I created it, and I have had it up on the wall myself. It is a painting that takes you somewhere else, away from reality and into a world where everything is calm and beautiful.

When people experience anxiety or stress, we are often told to go to that "happy place", which I always thought was a bit ridiculous to be honest, but if there ever was a happy place for me, this would be it. I love the colours, and the sense of space, freedom and warmth. It's what I could imagine heaven to be like.

When placed in a bright room, the sun will bring out tiny specs of glitter, and enhance the rainbow colours. This artwork will look best on a crisp white wall, but could definitely work in both traditional and modern interiors. It is painted on a deep edge canvas, with black edges, and comes ready to hang.

There will be 20% off this painting in my New Years sale from 1/1/2020 to 1/4/2020 so if this is the painting for you, please send me a message to purchase via my website or social media, or arrange a studio visit to my home in Brighton to see it in the flesh before you buy.

Also make sure to be signed up to my mailing list to be notified of upcoming events and exhibitions where you can buy and view my work, and to say hello!

Thanks for reading,
